VISITA A CUNHAÚ E NISIA FLORESTA

Visiting Cunhaú and Nísia Floresta

 

No domingo, dia 29 de maio de 2016, uma representação do Projeto K200/RN visitou os primeiros locais do Rio Grande do Norte descritos por Henry Koster, no ano de 1810: o local onde existia o Engenho Cunhaú e a cidade de Nísia Floresta, àquela época ainda denominada Papary.

Sunday, may 29^th, 2016, a representation of the project K200/RN visited the first places at Rio Grande do Norte described by Henry Koster by the year of 1810: the place where used to exist the Cunhaú Mill and Nísia Floresta City, named Papary around that period.

 

 

Na capela dedicada a Nossa Senhora das Candeias, fomos recebidos pelo Padre Neto, que nos brindou com explanações sobre o morticínio ali ocorrido, no ano de 1645. O citado episódio ficou conhecido como "O massacre de Cunhaú" e os cristãos católicos ali martirizados foram reconhecidos pela Igreja como beatos, estando em andamento o processo para canonização.

In the chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Cadeias, we were received by the Father Neto that toasted us with explanations about the slaughter occurred there by the year of 1645. This episode became known  as “The Cunhaú Slaughter” and the Catholics martyred there become know as blessed, being in progress the process of canonization.

 

 

O Padre Neto também falou sobre a situação atual e as perspectivas em torno do turismo religioso naquele local.

Father Neto also talked about the actual situation and the perspectives around the religious tourism in that place.

 

 

Sempre com comparações entre as descrições do livro "Viagens ao Nordeste do Brasil" e os aspectos atuais, houve a produção de vasto material audiovisual.

Always with comparisons between the descriptions of the book Travels in Brazil and the actual aspects, there was the production of a vast audiovisual material.

 

 

 Também participaram da ação os estudiosos e amantes da cultura, Luciano Bezerra (advogado) e José Martins (dentista), que compartilharam conosco conhecimentos acerca da história norte-riograndense.

Also participated of the action scholars and lovers of culture, Luciano Bezerra (Lawyer) and José Martins (dentist), that shared with us knowledges about the history of Rio Grande do Norte.

 

 

Já na cidade de Nísia Floresta, região bem descrita por Koster, fomos ciceroneados pela professora Rejane Souza e pelo representante do blog Nísia Digital, Agripino Júnior (veja no link abaixo)

Tivemos a oportunidade de conhecer um belo exemplo de projeto social: a Biblioteca  Comunitária "Dona Mariinha", na comunidade de Tororomba, zona rural de Nísia Floresta.

We had the opportunity to know the beautiful example of the social project: the Community Library “Dona Mariinha”, in the community of Tororomba, rural zone of Nísia Floresta.

 

 O espaço, que comporta ainda uma brinquedoteca e uma sala de vídeo, é totalmente mantido através de doações de colaboradores. Infelizmente, o poder público não tem dado apoio a esta iniciativa que beneficia muitas crianças da região.

The space, that holds a toy room, and a video room, is totally sustained by donations of contributors. Unfortunately, the public strength does not give support to this initiative that benefits many children of the region.

 

 

 

Convidados por Rejane e Agripino,  participamos, ao vivo, da programação da FM Executivo (87,9), com explicações sobre o K200/RN para a população de Nísia Floresta. Na oportunidade, foi lido "no ar" o trecho do livro que narra o encontro do viajante inglês com o Sr. Dionísio, justamente o pai daquela que posteriormente daria nome à cidade em que nasceu: Nísia Floresta.

Invited by Rejane and Agripino, we made a live participation of the programming of the radio FM Executivo (87,9), with explanations about K200/RN to the people of Nísia Floresta. In this opportunity, was read “on air” a patch of the book that tells the meeting of the British traveler with Mr. Dionísio, the father of the personality that, lately, would give the name to the city the she was born: Nísia Floresta.

 

 

Os restos mortais da educadora e poetisa Nísia Floresta estão sob um mausoléu que foi construído em sua homenagem, em local próximo ao centro da cidade.

A próxima etapa do projeto K200/RN será no dia 11 de junho, em Natal/RN.

Sempre seguindo os passos de H. Koster, mas com uma visão crítica sobre os aspectos históricos, socioambientais e tecnológicos, visitaremos a Matriz de Nossa Senhora da Apresentação e o Instituto Ludovicus, situado na antiga casa de Luís da Câmara Cascudo.
